Restriction of Hazardous
Substances (RoHS)
Statement of Compliance
Rose Electronics
will be RoHS compliant for all products by or before July 1,
2006.
Rose Electronics
recognizes the threat posed to our environment by the industrial
use of hazardous materials. It is in this spirit that we fully
support the efforts of the European Union to control the use and
disposal of these materials as documented in their RoHS
legislation.
The RoHS legislation
will prohibit the sale of new electrical and electronic
equipment containing more than agreed to levels of lead,
cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB)
and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants on the
EU market beginning on July 1, 2006.
As a leading
manufacturer of KVM switches, Rose Electronics understands the
importance of these efforts and is in the process of
implementing a comprehensive program to place Rose Electronics
in compliance with the EU RoHS directives. As part of this
program, Rose Electronics has identified all non-compliant parts
used in the manufacturing of our KVM products. We, in turn,
contact our suppliers to ensure they are aggressively pursuing
compliance and feasible alternatives to any of the identified
hazardous parts. The final result will be a manufacturing
environment and quality products that are free from
environmentally hazardous material.
In the RoHS legislation, certain exemptions have been made
pertaining to particular uses of lead, mercury, cadmium and
hexavalent chromium. According to the “Annex to Directive
2002/95/EC” p.5, as amended on 10/25/05) the RoHS Approved
Exemptions List includes an exemption that applies to Rose
Electronics. (Point 7: “— lead in solders for servers, storage
and storage array systems, network infrastructure equipment for
switching, signaling, transmission as well as network management
for telecommunications”)
We take seriously
the health and safety of all our employees, our customers and
anyone who could be affected by the use or improper disposal of
hazardous materials. Therefore, despite the fact that Rose
Electronics’ KVM switches are exempt from the RoHS legislation,
we are committed to continuing our efforts towards a hazardous
material-free environment.
Therefore, by July
1, 2006, Rose Electronics will be in complete compliance with
the RoHS legislation through the Approved Exemption as well as
through the continuing implementation of our internal
initiatives.
